Champagne
Champagne sits on Quarry Way SE, in Quarry Park, which the City files inside its Douglasdale and Glen community. Five buildings carry the name, at numbers 121, 131, 201, 211 and 221, and the assessment roll counts 176 homes across them, 29 at the first and between 36 and 37 at each of the rest. Gibbs Gage Architects is the applicant on every permit in the file, entered as GGA Architecture on the building permits and under its full name on the development permit. Remington Development is the contractor named on two of them.
The City issued the first building permit at number 121 in December 2011 and closed the last at number 221 in November 2016. The roll dates the earliest to 2011 and the latest to 2013, and it numbers the suites across four floors at 121 and five floors at the rest. The whole site runs a Direct Control District.
A parkade with an address of its own
Number 205 Quarry Way SE carries no homes. The roll files 338 parking accounts there and nothing besides, which is the shared parkade under the middle of the site holding a civic address. A separate building permit was taken out for that parkade, with Remington Development as contractor, and the City closed it in February 2016, nine months before the last apartment building above it. Parking is titled and heated, and the storage lockers come with the homes. Residents share a car wash bay.
What is around it
Quarry Park Natural Area, which the City files as a district park, is six hundred metres south, and Sue Higgins Park runs seven hundred metres northwest on the river. Carburn Park is a kilometre and a half north on the same bank. Douglasdale and Glen filled in mainly through the 1990s, with 3,186 of its 5,727 assessed parcels dating to that decade, and Quarry Park is the newer end of it, carrying 1,284 parcels from the 2010s.
