Luna

Luna stands on the corner of 12 Avenue and 10 Street SW, in the Connaught half of the Beltline. It is the tallest of three towers Qualex-Landmark built on this stretch, joining Stella from 2006 and Nova from 2008, and at thirty storeys it finishes a group that went up over six years.

The building

Thirty storeys carrying 218 homes, finished in 2012. Qualex-Landmark is a Vancouver developer that built close to 1,300 homes across six Calgary towers between 2006 and 2018, every one of them in the Beltline. Luna was the third of the six. Stella runs twenty storeys with 161 homes, and Nova carries 188. Luna at thirty finished the group. Calla followed in 2013 and the last two towers came in 2016 and 2018. The underground here carries 227 titled parking stalls and 140 storage cages, which is a higher parking ratio than newer buildings in the district run.

The building carries a fitness centre with a yoga studio and a steam room beside it. The owners’ lounge holds a wet bar, a kitchen, a fireplace, and a pool table, and it opens onto the second-level Zen courtyard. Two guest suites are available for residents to book. A concierge works the desk during the day and security covers the building overnight. The underground carries gated visitor parking.

What is around it

The 17 Avenue SW retail strip is five blocks south, and 10 Street carries you into it. The 11 Avenue and 12 Avenue restaurant blocks are at the door. Central Memorial Park is six blocks east along 12 Avenue with the sandstone library at its east end. The 7 Avenue CTrain platforms are five blocks north, with 8 Street SW the closest station on both lines.

Three towers by one developer on one block says something about how this district filled in, and we cover it in Living in Beltline.
