Radius
Radius stands at 88 9 Street NE in Bridgeland, northeast of downtown across the Bow. Bucci Developments built it and completed it in 2019. It is a seven-storey concrete building holding 201 homes. The amenities run to a rooftop patio, parking with every home, private studios for yoga and spin, and weight training.
A concierge works the building. Residents share a car wash area and a dog washing station, and secure bike storage runs with a bicycle repair area.
Bridgeland
Bridgeland and Riverside sit between the Bow River to the south, Deerfoot Trail east, Edmonton Trail west, and Renfrew north. Riverside was settled by Russian-German immigrants during the boom of the 1880s and was called Germantown then. Italian and Ukrainian families followed by the early twentieth century, and the bakeries and grocers along 1 Avenue NE gave the district the Little Italy name it carried for decades.
The Calgary General Hospital stood here from 1910 until it closed in 1997, and it was brought down in a controlled explosion on October 4 1998. The 37-acre site became The Bridges, the redevelopment that reshaped this part of the community and put a good deal of the newer housing where the hospital had been.
What is in reach
Bridgeland and Memorial station opened on the Blue Line in 1985 and is a short walk from the building, roughly five minutes by the developer's own reckoning, which also puts the river pathways at about the same distance. Tom Campbell's Hill sits above the community to the north. St Patrick's Island and St George's Island are south across the Bow, the second of them carrying the Wilder Institute and Calgary Zoo. Downtown is one bridge away.
We wrote about the community around it. Living in Bridgeland.
