Capitol Hill

Fifties bungalows on the slope between Confederation Park and 16th Avenue, cut down the middle by 14th Street.

Annexed in 1910 and established as a community in 1948, Capitol Hill filled in through the 1950s, with a scattering of houses from the 1920s and 1930s still standing among them. Two pieces of that earlier era survive in plain sight. The Capitol Hill Cottage School, a wood-frame schoolhouse from 1912 and one of four cottage schools left in Calgary, and Capitol Hill Park, laid out between 1932 and 1941. Confederation Park runs the northern boundary and SAIT sits just south.
