Kensington

The shops on 10th Street and Kensington Road, with Hillhurst and Sunnyside on either side.

Kensington is a business revitalization zone centred on the corner of Kensington Road and 10th Street NW, so the homes people mean when they say Kensington sit in Hillhurst or Sunnyside. Both trace back to 1880s homesteads and filled in after the streetcar arrived in 1909. The older street names survive on the wrought iron gates along the north side of Kensington Road. 10A Street was Norfolk Road and 11th was Beverley. 12th was Oxford. Sunnyside station is on 9A Street, and the Louise Bridge crosses straight into downtown.
