Parkdale
A narrow strip on the north bank of the Bow, below the Foothills hill.
Calgary annexed Parkdale in 1910 and the streetcar reached it by 1911, but the boom broke in 1913 and the war stopped the rest. Six houses went up between 1911 and 1913 and some of them are still standing. The community was not established until 1948, and the bungalows that define it went up through the 1950s, built by small contractors a few at a time. Those are the houses now coming down for infill. Foothills Medical Centre sits on the hill to the north, and the Bow River pathway runs the length of the south edge.
