Parkhill

The ridge above the Elbow, subdivided in 1907 by a man who survived the Titanic.

Parkhill runs from Macleod Trail west to the Elbow River, between 33 Avenue and 45 Avenue. The land falls the whole way, so the commercial frontage sits at the top and Stanley Park sits on the flat at the bottom, twenty-one hectares of it inside the community. Albert A. Dick subdivided the ground as Park Hill in 1907 and the City annexed it in 1910. Houses here carry a construction date in every decade since 1908, from Edwardian survivors on the ridge streets to infill finished this decade, and the 1994 area redevelopment plan names the western half a conservation area.
