Point McKay

A riverside shelf that finished building in 1987 and stayed that way.

Point McKay runs between Bowness Road and the Bow River on the north bank, west of the Foothills hospital hill. A footbridge at the west end crosses into Edworthy Park. The community belonged to the town of Montgomery until Calgary annexed the town in 1963, and it takes its name from Alfred McKay, who built a sandstone house here in 1905 that still stands on Point Drive. The housing is townhouse clusters and two towers. All 848 residential parcels on the City's roll were built in the 1970s or 1980s, apart from the McKay house, and nothing has been added since 1987.
