St. Andrews Heights
A hilltop above the Bow, named for a golf course that closed in 1945.
St. Andrews Heights sits between the Trans-Canada and the Bow River escarpment, with Crowchild Trail on the east and 29 Street on the west. Foothills Medical Centre fills the northwestern corner and McMahon Stadium borders the northeast. The land was annexed in 1910 and the subdivision started building in 1953, on ground a golf course had held until 1945. Of 535 residential parcels on the City's roll, 218 date from the 1950s and 135 from a second wave in the 1970s, with 84 finished since 2010. The community association keeps a hall and a rink on 13 Avenue with the tobogganing hill beside them, and the City holds the southern escarpment as park.
