Wildwood
Bungalows on wide laneway lots, with Edworthy Park inside the line.
Thomas Edworthy came from Devon to the Calgary area in 1883 and worked the sandstone quarry whose remains still stand in the park carrying his name. The City bought 191 acres of the Shaganappi Ranch in 1962 to make Edworthy Park, and the community around it went up through the fifties. About ninety-four per cent of the buildings are detached houses, largely bungalows on wide lots with rear laneways, and infill has arrived slowly enough that the original runs are still legible. The park holds over five kilometres of trail on the Bow River pathway and a regional off-leash area open since 1988, along with two of the thirteen booked picnic sites in the city where alcohol is permitted.
