Tarjan Place

Tarjan Place sits at 1111 6 Avenue SW, in the Downtown West End. Spartacus Holdings filed the development permit in June 2002 and the City released it in January 2003 for a 287-home apartment building with commercial space. Pointe of View Condominiums took out the building permit under the name Tarjan Pointe, and the City issued it in December 2003 and closed it in March 2006. The assessment roll carries the same 287 homes, dates them to 2005, numbers them from the second floor to the twentieth and skips the thirteenth.

The ground floor is commercial and the roll carries twelve commercial accounts there. A change of use released in January 2006 put a grocery store into that space. Parking is titled and heated in an underground parkade, and the land runs a Direct Control district written before the 2007 bylaw.

A parking lot for a decade first

The City's development file for this address runs back to 1986 and carries no building at all before 2002. Every entry until then is signage or parking. A surface parking lot was approved here in 1994 for five years and renewed in 1999 for five more, and a temporary sales trailer went up the same spring. So the block sat open while the West End around it filled in, and the tower is what the lot became.
