University Heights
A 1963 grid of U-named streets against the campus fence.
Established in 1963 on roughly 0.7 square kilometres between 24 Avenue, University Drive, 16 Avenue and Shaganappi Trail. Every street name begins with U, from Ulster and Utah to Uxbridge and Unwin, a convention Calgary applied by district through the sixties. The City files the housing structure as 1960s and 1970s, and close to two thirds of the buildings are condominium or apartment, much of it purpose-built rental including the Patrician Village blocks along University Drive. Eleven City park sites sit inside the lines. Uxborough Place carries the community's own shops, and the University of Calgary campus fills the eastern boundary.
