Living at 6th and Tenth, Calgary

The Atlas

The corner does the talking before the tower does. Water runs over stone at the foot of the building on 10 Avenue through the warm months, and in January the same installation holds snow and light instead. Within a week you have learned which CTrain platform is yours, because two blocks north the direction you are travelling decides which side of 7 Avenue you stand on.

Grounds

6th and Tenth stands at 1010 6 Street SW, on the corner it is named for, in the northern half of the Beltline where the residential blocks run up against the downtown office grid. It is a point tower, meaning a slim floor plate carried straight up with no slab laid across a podium, and that is why apartments on all four faces get a view out.

The ground floor gives its frontage away. O2 Planning and Design drew the landscape here, and the sculptural water feature sits where the building meets the sidewalk, built to run water and movement through the warm months and to take snow and lighting through the cold ones. A sculpture garden sits in among the stone and the planting, its installations procured through an invitation to artists. A restaurant holds the base with a terrace off it, and street trees and custom furnishings finish the block. We have walked past in February and found the corner still doing something, which is more than a tower forecourt usually manages.

Homes

Thirty-one storeys, finished in 2017, built by Lamb Development Corp, a Toronto developer with a short list of Calgary addresses. The exterior is black brick. Balconies and windows are set at deliberately irregular sizes, so the elevation never settles into the even grid a tower this tall usually carries, and from the sidewalk the pattern reads as something drawn instead of something repeated.

The point-tower plan is the thing a buyer is actually choosing. A slim floor plate puts fewer homes on each level and gives each of them exterior wall on more than one face, which is why a small home in this building can carry corner glass that a wide slab tower of the same height would keep for its ends. The height register lists the tower at 107.6 metres. Unit counts circulate on the listing sites, we have found none published by the developer, and so we are leaving that figure alone.

Everyday

Two blocks north, the 7 Avenue corridor carries both CTrain lines at street level. The platforms split by direction, so 6 Street SW takes eastbound trains and 7 Street SW takes westbound, and picking wrong costs you a block. Century Gardens sits four blocks northwest at 826 8 Avenue SW, reopened in 2021 after a redevelopment that kept the heritage waterfalls and added a splash pad and a wooden amphitheatre. Go the other way and 10 Avenue runs east into the Beltline restaurant blocks and west toward the West End. The 17 Avenue SW retail strip is seven blocks south, a walk and a straight one. North past the office towers the Bow River pathway picks up, with the Peace Bridge crossing into Sunnyside and the Kensington shops on the far side of it.

Amenities

The fitness centre sits on the second floor and opens onto a patio carrying a hot tub. The outdoor pool is heated and a rooftop deck runs at the top of the building. A room the building calls the Sky Lounge holds a kitchen with space to entertain, and a clubhouse sits alongside it.

A concierge works around the clock and security keeps the same hours. Parking is titled and heated below grade, with visitor stalls down there and bicycle storage beside them, and homes take titled storage lockers. Short-term rentals were permitted here as of August 2026. A board can move a position like that, so confirm the current one with the condominium corporation before you write an offer.

Edges

North of the corner the Beltline stops being residential and becomes the office core, which is the reason the walk to work here is counted in minutes and the reason the sidewalks empty at six. East along 10 Avenue the restaurant blocks start. West the district thins into the West End and then reaches the river. South the older low-rise stock holds the middle of the Beltline until 17 Avenue takes over.

Each of those edges is a street you can stand on, and none of them is abstract. The tower explains itself in about a minute and the district takes longer, which is why we wrote Living in Beltline alongside it.
