Cornerstone
The Atlas
Your walk starts at the end of 128 Avenue, where the first area of the regional park opened in October 2024 with a hockey rink, a basketball court, a playground and fitness nodes. The rest of the park is planned around the City's Anderson Wetland, two main basins joined by shallower ground, where the City records American avocets and black-necked stilts among the shorebirds.
Grounds
Cornerstone covers about 7.6 square kilometres of the city's far northeast. Stoney Trail wraps its north and east sides, and 96 Avenue NE and 60 Street NE close the south and the west. The City approved the Cornerstone Area Structure Plan in September 2014, and the plan describes the land then as one of the last remaining undeveloped areas inside the ring road, used for crops and grazing. It places the ground in the Foothills Fescue Natural Subregion, with a slightly hummocky surface sloping from south to north and wetlands in its depressions, and it places the whole plan area in the Bow River watershed and the Nose Creek storm catchment.
The plan divides the land into two communities, one on each side of Country Hills Boulevard, each laid out as four neighbourhoods. Walton launched Cornerstone in the fall of 2016, its first phase ran from 2016 into 2017, and Anthem United came in as development manager on March 28 2018 without any change in who owns the land. The City's own page names Anthem as the community developer. We keep the plan's map beside a Cornerstone listing, since a vacant lot next door was drawn for a use the plan names.
Homes
The developer's pages list condominiums, townhomes, duplexes and single-family homes, the single-family homes built either laned with a detached rear garage or front-drive, and the 2018 builder group ran to Shane Homes, Jayman Homes, Sterling Homes, Morrison Homes and Truman Homes. The first phase carried 590 single-family lots and four multi-family sites, with two park spaces among them. The City's 2026 assessment roll carries close to twice as many residential parcels from the 2020s as from the 2010s, and the 2021 census counted 6,190 people in the community's private households, in the City's community profile.
Membership in the Cornerstone Homeowner Association comes through an encumbrance on the title of each home. An elected volunteer board runs it and Astoria Asset Management administers it. The association maintains the parks, boulevards, entry monuments, structures and public-facing fences. We read that encumbrance on the title alongside the listing, since every home in Cornerstone carries it.

Everyday
Highstreet at Cornerstone, at 1155 Cornerstone Boulevard NE, is the community's shopping centre, anchored by Chalo FreshCo, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama and BMO, and Anthem marked its grand opening with a festival on July 27 2024. The City's Cornerstone Fire Station, No. 38, opened officially in September 2025 and replaces the temporary Skyview Fire Station in Skyview Ranch. The 2014 plan places a future LRT station at Country Hills Boulevard and 60 Street NE.
The City's regional park sits towards the community's northeast boundary. The greater part of it is Environmental Reserve, to be protected as natural wetland around the Anderson Wetland, a large, semi-permanent wetland the City considers an Environmentally Significant Area, and the park becomes City owned and City operated once it is built out. The first of its three planned areas, at the end of 128 Avenue, formally opened on October 15 2024. No school operates inside Cornerstone on the City's schools list. Two Calgary Transit routes stop inside, the 136 Corner Meadows / Cornerbrook and the 128 East Skyview Ranch / Redstone.
Edges
Stoney Trail closes the north and the east, with land the City has not yet assigned to any community beyond it. 96 Avenue NE runs the south side, with Saddle Ridge across it. On the west, 60 Street NE faces Redstone at its northern end and Skyview Ranch further south, and Cityscape sits across the south-west corner. The 2014 plan records the Stoney Trail corridor as limiting access into the plan area to overpasses on every side but the west, and it places CrossIron Mills, a super-regional shopping centre, north of the plan area in Rocky View County. The wider map sits on the full neighbourhoods index.
